This unassuming castle is an easily missed stop on the Wild Atlantic Way. We just happened to spot a signpost and I love a good castle so we turned down the road for it. We were not disappointed.

There was barely anyone else around as we explored through the many floors via the winding stairs. Couldn’t resist getting the drone out for a quick flight. Strong winds tried to take it away so after a quick couple of photos had to land it again. Another day there would be some stunning views to get here from the sky.

While the castle was the main attraction there was a local dog hanging around that kinda stole the show.

Quite friendly, this dog just seemed completely at peace in the world. The wind was strong and it seemed to enjoy standing right in its path.

The photos of this dog and castle together are some of my favourites.

The castle was also home to some Swallows that were constantly flying in and around. They were not bothered at all by us humans exploring and often flew right past. It really felt like we were visiting their home.

While not the best exposed photo I’ve ever taken, I do love the lucky timing of this photo.
